Aug 2026 — DHCS CHKS Workshop Registration

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is sponsoring 11 in-person and virtual California Healthy Kids (CHKS) data workshops in counties across the state over the next two school years (2026-2028).

These three-hour, hands-on workshops, co-hosted by county offices of education and county prevention coordinators, are offered at no charge to county prevention specialists, district and school educators, community-based organizations, and county behavioral and public health partners.

The collaborative, hybrid sessions will bring together educators and prevention specialists working with local districts and schools to review CHKS data on the protective factors of school connectedness, safety, caring adult relationships and positive school climates, which support both academic success and substance use prevention. Aligning efforts leads to shared resources and greater impact.

Through interactive activities, guided data exploration, educators and preventionists will work together (in-person or in zoom break-out rooms) to examine their most recent CHKS student data, identify shared priorities, and plan coordinated actions. Participants will leave with practical insights and next steps to continue supporting students.

We strongly encourage participants to attend in-person and in teams, if possible. This is an opportunity for CBOs, county health, and district/school staff to connect, collaborate, and build supportive relationships. If attending virtually, please also bring team members to allow for rich group conversations and planning.
